The Dutch Opera
an exhibition of new paintings by artist Jil Evans. In a synthesis of gesture, color and drama, these exciting abstract artworks draw on and reinterpret the Baroque sensibility embedded in historical Dutch vanitas paintings. Natural Parables, a series of paintings by Evans in which a bouquet of snapdragons has been transformed into a visceral fusion of gesture and color that evokes bodily experiences, will be shown concurrently in the gallery.
