WHITNEY HALL

Whitney Hall’s art reflects her draw to clues: the tangible, external objects and spaces that tell a person’s story. She finds and resuscitates images and spaces filled with lost names and faces using scissors, thread and camera to resurrect the images into new settings and situations. Hall received a B.A. from St. Olaf College in Studio art and Women’s Studies and was awarded one of the Art Apprenticeships from St. Olaf college, a fifth year artist in residency program. In 2006, after graduation, Hall worked as intern for a Minneapolis based film company Oh My Films and for an up and coming cooperative gallery, Form and Content, where she witnessed the construction of the initial framework of the gallery. Hall continues to create art while living in Portland Oregon. Her most recent show, August 2008, was a collection of new works from multiple mediums.
"As one of the first interns at Form + Content, I was able to participate and witness the beginnings of a gallery. The opportunity to see the beginnings of an art space, to watch as F+C grew from an idea to a reality was a truly unique experience. It is an honor to be apart of this intern show and to have my work at Form and Content. It is a pleasure to see F+C continue to thrive. Thank you to all who worked with me as an intern."--Whitney Hall
