Form+Content Gallery presents Picnic in the Apocalypse, an exhibition of collages by Chris Cinque. The exhibition consists of mixed media collages exploring catastrophe and what to do about it. The central piece is a 48” x 41” collage called All Eyes Will Focus that documents the chaos in which we find ourselves: the pandemic, rampant fires, and the wreckage left by the last administration. Accompanying these pictorial collages are several canvases from Chris’s Port Aransas series, colorful non-figurative collages on unstretched canvas that provide abstracted echoes to the figurative ones.
Chris Cinque’s Artist Statement
My life was upended by trauma at an early age. Working as an artist has always been my salvation and my best form of communication. One of my tasks is to make connections between the muddled past, the present moment, and the mysterious future. I do this by creating both figurative and abstract collages and paintings. These works create bridges between what is actual and what is possible.
