Salt (for anyone who ever lost someone) by Hawona Sullivan Janzen
April 24 – May 31, 2025
Form+Content Gallery is pleased to present SALT (for anyone who ever lost someone), work by Hawona Sullivan Janzen.
When Hawona Sullivan Janzen ‘s pandemic fever dream compelled her to investigate salt she discovered the uncanny connections it had to her family history, spiritual practices, and the veil between this life and the great beyond. Now she wants to talk to you about salt.
Through material explorations, ancestral portraits, with live and recorded performances “Salt (for anyone who has ever lost someone)” is one part installation, one part interrogation, and one part a story of coming home.
OPENING RECEPTION: Saturday, April 26, 12–6pm
ARTIST’S TALK: Sunday, May 18, 2–3pm

To the River: New Drawings by Joyce Lyon
March 13 – April 19, 2025
Form+Content Gallery is pleased to present To the River, an exhibition of new oil stick drawings by Joyce Lyon. The river is the Tiber / il Tevere, which passes below the Umbrian town in Italy where the artist spends time each year. In these large-scale oil stick works, Lyon responds to an unusual aqua color of the water – is it an effect of light, or sediment or something shifting in the environment? The road leading to the river is Roman, more than 2,000 years old. Ivy grows up many of the trees, altering their profile when seen against a bright sky. She meditates on the ancient history of this place and its present life and on the ability of drawn and verbal languages to communicate experience.
OPENING RECEPTION: Saturday, March 15, 4–6pm
ARTIST’S TALK: Sunday, March 30, 2–3pm
MEET THE ARTIST: Saturday, April 19, 3-6pm

Sight Between
Form+Content Gallrery will participate in Twin Cities Art Week, October 16 -20
Form+Content Gallery presents Sight Between. New works by Michal Sagar.
Michal Sagar invites you to explore the space between dreams and states of consciousness in an intimate environment — with large multimedia drawings, a “Mud God” made of clay, and hundreds of suspended floating elements. Each piece begins with a gestural expression of the hand, from the initial searching graphite lines on paper to the wet dark clay of a life-size ceramic creature. Moving from two-dimensional drawings to three-dimensional sculpture, from the young eyes of a boy to the ancient eyes of a “Mud God”, from mammals to avians — all the work in this show speaks of a yearning for transformation.
