KATHRYN NOBBE

My work is grounded in the history and process of drawing and painting. Over the past several decades, my artistic practices have expanded to include both 2D and 3D artwork, photography, digital imaging, video projection, installation-based work and inter-disciplinary collaboration in order to further articulate meaning and engage my viewers.

Exploring In-Betweenness

The Artwork, 2017 to current Stylistically falling in the continuum between representation and abstraction, HyperLiminal began as a series of multimedia artworks in 2017 and continues to evolve currently. Under the lens of liminality (the barely perceptible intermediate state, phase, or condition that exists “In-between”), Nobbe further explores transdisciplinary concepts of human ecology and the metaphorical relationships of the human Body and planet Earth.

flux (flŭks), fluxus, fluxing

1999 to Current

Latin (late 14c) 1:continuous moving on or passing by flow; 2: FLOOD a flux of words; 3: INFLUX;4: CHANGE, FLUCTUATION in a state of flux; Old French-flus ,"a flowing, rolling; bleeding".

A carapace is a protective, camouflaging, and/or decorative exoskeleton of animal groups such as crustaceans, arachnids, and turtles. This bony structure grows along with the creature, serving as a primary defense against enemies and other dangers in the innate quest for survival…. more
